Our New Skeletons Dinner + Ring of Fire: Recipe from Easy's Manu Lauzon
One's an ode to the man in black. The other? An ode to ourselves.
It’s time: another Skeletons dinner.
We had our first a few months ago. It was … well, ask folks who went.
“10 out of 10,” one guest said.
“Sometimes we can feel the universe conspiring to bring us healing. Last night was one of those magical moments,” said another.
Seems strange, doesn’t it? A dinner on grief? Who wants that? Well, show me someone who lives this life without grief. Point to one single human who manages to escape loss.
It’s part of this exquisite ticket to ride. And our culture doesn’t really talk about it.
And when we don’t talk about things, when we stuff them into our inner closets, they build and stack and get all wobbly and cause trouble.
So, with lots of ease, laughter and good questions, I’ll guide us through a story-rich evening that lets us safely, without any sort of confession, explore a bit more our own grief and loss.
Let’s get the skeletons out of our closet.
On Tuesday, May 19, join me at Calliope’s upstairs private dining room for our second Skeletons dinner. We’ll begin at 6 pm. Tickets — they don’t include dinner or drinks, which you’ll order on your own — can be found here.
“Last night was wonderful,” one guest said after our first dinner. “I have so many thoughts bouncing around in my head.”
“Incredibly healing- the sharing, fellowship and community,” said another.
I promise: it won’t be what you think.

This Sunday, our feature takes us into the heart of the Easy Bistro bar and its famous bartender, Manu Lauzon.
He’s also a songwriter and performer.
The lines between creativity and music and mixology blur together here.
“The creative aspect of music and bartending is what I love,” he told us this winter. “And the thread I see between them.”
Over the winter, the Easy team tested and tried some drink ideas for the spring menu.
The final menu debuted not long ago. Ring of Fire’s there, ready for you to order.
As a preview for our Sunday story, here’s the recipe for Manu’s Ring of Fire.
“A somewhat bitter, smoky, sweet and sour hint of spice,” he said. “An ode to Johnny Cash and an echo of his song.”
